Columbia City – Mayors Roundtable

“The Mayors Roundtable is a monthly opportunity for mayors to discuss challenges and opportunities with professional experts to find creative and engaging solutions.”  This is what Columbia City Mayor Ryan Daniel says about the Northern Indiana Mayors Roundtable.  Mayor Daniel hosted the latest roundtable in Columbia City last Friday, September 22nd.In attendance were Mayor Richard Hickman of Angola, Mayor Norm Yoder of Auburn, Mayor Jeremy Stutsman of Goshen, Mayor Patty Fisel of Ligonier, Mayor Phil Jenkins of Nappanee, Mayor Joe Kelsey of Woodburn, and more.  There was a lively luncheon and drawing followed by a panel discussion about Indiana politics with Abdul-Hakim Shabazz of Indy Politics and Brian Howey of Howey Politics Indiana.  Andy Downs of the Mike Downs Center for Indiana Politics at IPFW moderated the discussion. Click here to listen to the panel discussion:  http://indypolitics.org/political-prognostication/   

Congratulations to Community Crossings Grant Award Recipients

On September 20th, INDOT announced the communities to be awarded funding for their 2017 Community Crossings grant applications.  Congratulations to all the cities, towns, and counties that will benefit from these funds.  Jonathan Moen, P.E., transportation engineer at Triad, submitted several grant applications.  Seven Triad clients received funding, the Towns of Arcadia, Ingalls, Schneider, Shirley, Upland, Wolcottville, and the City of  Ligonier.

Josh Chapman – Employee Spotlight

Josh Chapman, a graduate of Trine University in Angola, is Triad’s newest hire. Josh earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering with a minor in Environmental Engineering in May of 2016. P.E. position available at Triad’s Indianapolis Office

Triad Associates is seeking a professional engineer licensed in the state of Indiana with experience in wastewater and water. The ideal candidate must have experience in the design of new wastewater and water systems primarily in the municipal field as well as the ability to troubleshoot wastewater and water treatment systems, design upgrades, and improvements.  Must be willing to attend meetings with clients, attend evening council meetings, and be able to present project scope and plans to the community.Experience with communication, correspondence, documentation and permitting with the state and federal oversight agencies in the wastewater and water arena is required.  The ideal candidate would be interested in long-term employment with the firm with an opportunity for partial company ownership in the future.Contact Triad or upload your resume here.

Ligonier Horse and Carriage Parking – Project Update

The Amish community is a vital and important part of the history and the future of the City of Ligonier.  This recently completed project would allow for the safe and convenient parking of any Amish horse and buggy.  The completed parking facility includes a 96’ by 26’ concrete parking pad, asphalt drive improvements, water service and yard hydrants, special storm sewer inlet, landscaping, sign installation, and 110 lineal feet of Shadow Box fencing.      

Ligonier Bank Stabilization – Project Update

The Elkhart River Erosion Control Project was recently completed in Ligonier.  The reconstruction of a collapsed retaining wall approximately 275 feet long was part of a Disaster Recovery project. The project included construction of a retaining wall/bank stabilization system along the Elkhart River, reconstruction of the ally, and installation of a guardrail system along the river bank.   

Kendallville Wastewater Treatment Plant Groundbreaking

Kendallville Mayor W. SuzAnne Handshoe and Wastewater Superintendent Mark Schultz recently hosted a ceremony for the City of Kendallville’s Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) Improvements Project.  Honored guests in attendance were Senator Susan Glick, Indiana District 13, Representative David Ober, Indiana District 82, Jim Dazey, City Council President/BOW President, Eric Walsh, Umbaugh & Associates, and Mick Jackson, James S. Jackson CO, LLC.  Mayor Handshoe declared this the most important project in 35 years for Kendallville.  The City has probably one of the last trickling filters in the state.  All 3 trickling filters will be demolished as well as the Bio Tower.  Triad engineers noted that the improved plant will allow for the treatment of future flows and loadings that new businesses and industry may bring to the City.
