On February 14, 2017, Mayor Patty Fisel and City officials of Ligonier requested funding from the Northeast Indiana (NEI) Regional Partnership for Ligonier’s Strawberry Valley Cultural Trail project. Along with Triad Project Engineer, Jonathan Moen, P.E., the team shared the vision and intention of the City’s Strawberry Valley Cultural Trail in vivid color. The trail project will encompass a 5-mile loop that will meander through the City allowing users to take in the best of Ligonier: 4 City Parks, the Downtown District, the Elkhart Riverwalk, artwork, murals and bronze statues, and architecture of historical interest.
Congratulations are in order now that it is official that the City of Ligonier will be receiving $248,920 in Regional Cities Initiative funding for the installation of the Strawberry Valley Cultural Trail. In Noble County’s Advance Leader article by Kelly Lynch on August 8, Mayor Patty is quoted as saying, “I think that it is great for the City of Ligonier. This is just a great thing. It’s so exciting. I think our trails are so unique in the fact that they are going to be connecting the focal points of our downtown.”
